Overall, there are many addiction treatment therapy options to choose from. However, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is usually the most effective. When I prioritize the reasons that today I am 240 days sober!! I list God first & Soledad 2nd! & That is an absolute fact. My initial move to a sober living in California did not include Soledad but how grateful i am that God had a different plan. From the moment I was picked up at the airport I knew I was in the right place. The therapists, administrative staff, & house & day managers are absolutely amazing & felt more like FAMILY than employees of Soledad & now I am also grateful to Soledad because I am an employee as well!! The support I received whether it was therapeutic, Drs appointments, insurance or Short term disability assistance was phenomenal & readily given. I always FELT KELLY MATTERED which is something we don't feel from the world while on active addiction. I will end with this: if you have reached the point of Desperation due to your addiction & are ready to start living a healthy life as we were all meant to then SOLEDAD Treatment is exactly who & where you should be. GOD BLESS SOLEDAD & THE STAFF

I finally found a place where I could be safe. My entire life I've been searching for stability, unconditional love and a chance to have my own identity. I found that here at Soledad House. It wasn't easy and I stood in my own way a lot. The people at Soledad never gave up on me but they didn't baby me either. They let me know daily that I was worthy of living the life I had always imagined. They helped me to begin looking at my trauma and the shame around it. At Soledad House I am surrounded by the most powerful women who understand the seriousness of this disease and the courage it takes to fight it. Without this program I don't think I would be here right now. I am eternally grateful for Soledad House and the women on this journey with me. If you are looking for a program for you or someone else, please look into this one!

I wish I had heard of Soledad earlier. It would’ve cut down a lot on my time spent in treatment if I had gotten to go straight to such an organized, segmented program that actually helps you set up for discharge and begin your life outside of treatment. Best treatment facility I’ve been to.

I will have 4 years of sobriety in a few months. I owe so much of that to Soledad. I will forever be grateful for my time there. No recovery program is perfect, but I can confidently say that they genuinely care about every woman that walks through their doors.

After 70 days of treatment from my previous treatment center, I decided to come to Soledad House. Let me tell you... best decision I ever made in a lifetime. What Soledad has instilled in me are things I will always carry in my recovery. The staff, counselors, doctors and admin make this place what it is. The homes are beautiful and the support I have received from the girls at this program will last a lifetime. I am almost 6 months sober now and owe it to this place. They also offer aftercare, which I am going to, and sober living as well. I dont think I would have come as far as I am now in my recovery if it was not for Soledad House. If you are ready for chance of a life changing experience , Soledad House is the place for you. THANK YOU SOLEDAD!

WHAT IS COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL THERAPY?

What is behavioral therarpy? Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a form of psychotherapy. Its main purpose is to help people understand their thoughts and feelings. It also teaches you how negative internal dialogue influences your behavior.

CBT is a useful option for people who suffer from various mental disorders. For example, therapists use it for anxiety, depression, phobias, and addiction. Overall, thoughts and feelings highly affect the symptoms of any mental illness.

Typically, rehab centers pair CBT with other, long-term therapies. As effective as CBT is, it’s still a short-term method. During CBT, experts focus on your thought process. Clients learn how to change and identify their destructive thoughts to eliminate negative behavior.

HOW DOES CBT FIGHT ADDICTION?

CBT helps people stop destructive behaviors, and addiction motivates these problematic choices. People who seek addiction help truly want to overcome the disease. However, their compulsive behaviors allow the addiction cycle to continue.
Using CBT, experts are able to identify negative thoughts, triggers, and the root cause of addiction. Using this information, they help people overcome their substance abuse problem and embrace lasting sobriety.
CBT is an important part of rehab for many reasons. First, failure to identify the root cause of addiction often leads to future relapse. Additionally, people must change their way of thinking or they’re likely to continue bad habits after rehab.
However, CBT isn’t solely about removing negative thoughts and behaviors. CBT also helps people eliminate impossible goals they set for themselves. Turning goals into realistic ones make them less overwhelming. In general, therapists set up milestones to help people take their recovery one step at a time.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CBT

Many rehab centers use CBT as a single therapeutic method. However, it’s actually an umbrella term that includes many aspects. For example, the techniques that fall under this category include:
Each of these offers its own creative and unique approach to treatment. However, they all fall under CBT because they center on addressing underlying thoughts and behaviors.
REBT focuses on identifying and changing irrational beliefs. For example, an irrational belief might include, “Everyone hates me.” However, logically speaking, it’s impossible for everyone to hate you because you haven’t met everyone.

What is the difference between CBT versus DBT? DBT focuses more on behaviors and thinking patterns. It incorporates different strategies to overcome these negative elements. DBT approaches tend to revolve around mindfulness and emotional regulation.
