RECOGNIZING A METH ADDICTION

Recovering from addiction starts by identifying the addiction. There’s no safe way to use meth. Anyone who is using meth is abusing the drug, and they also very likely have an addiction.
There are some highly visible signs of meth abuse. These can include dental decay, known as meth mouth, rapid weight loss and open sores on the skin. Conditions such as nausea, insomnia, and anxiety are also very common among meth users.

Not all signs of an addiction are physical. Behavioral signs of addiction can include drastic changes to routine or sleep cycles. If individuals have financial crises or relationship trouble and continue to use meth, it’s very likely that they’re dealing with an addiction.
Identifying and acknowledging the addiction to meth is a big step in the right direction. Once you can identify the problem as an addiction, you can start to take action and get the necessary help.

COMPLETING A METH DETOX AT A DRUG REHAB CENTER

There are many important steps to overcoming meth addiction. One of the first is completing a meth detox. This is when you stop taking meth, go through withdrawal and learn to function without depending on the drug.

Soledad House outsources detox programs, ensuring that all patients receive quality medical care around the clock. Through detox, patients may experience withdrawal symptoms. For a meth withdrawal, these symptoms commonly include insomnia, paranoia, fatigue, apathy, and hallucinations.

These withdrawal symptoms don’t last forever. The length of detox varies from one patient to the next, but almost all symptoms will be completely gone within three weeks.

UNCOVERING THE ROOT CAUSES OF ADDICTION

Once detox is complete, patients can move on to a drug rehabilitation program. One of the goals of rehab is to get to the root cause of the addiction. Identifying and then resolving the root cause of addiction can go a long way in promoting overall health and preventing the risk of relapse.
An addiction to meth can develop for many reasons. Often, it relates to an untreated or undiagnosed mental health condition. Bipolar disorder, anxiety or depression can all be factors in the development of a drug addiction.
A history of trauma can also play a role in the formation of a drug addiction. Through a range of therapy methods, patients can discover, address and resolve some of these issues.
