Women's Alcohol Rehab

A SAFE, SUPPORTIVE
SPACE FOR WOMEN TO
RECOVER

It takes lower alcohol consumption for a woman than for a man to develop an alcohol use disorder. Women can metabolize the substance more fully but at a slower pace than men. Not surprisingly, women are also at a higher risk of developing health problems associated with alcohol misuse. The answer to overcoming alcohol abuse or addiction is enrollment in a women’s addiction treatment facility.

At Soledad House, we offer compassionate and comprehensive alcohol addiction treatment programs for women. In our San Diego women’s treatment center, our patients begin to heal and take their lives back from alcoholism. How can you help an alcoholic? UNDERSTANDING THE DANGERS OF AN ALCOHOL USE DISORDER FOR WOMEN

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism reports that 4.3% of women suffer from an alcohol use disorder. However, less than ten percent of women in need of help actually receive addiction treatment. Each year, 26,000 women die from diseases and conditions as a result of alcohol abuse. Examples include alcoholic liver disease, brain damage, and breast cancer.

In fact, women are more susceptible to die from alcohol-related illnesses than men. For example, women are more likely to develop heart disease because of drinking heavily than men are. Additionally, women are more likely to die from cirrhosis of the liver than men are. Along with other risk factors, there are additional long-term health consequences.

OVERCOMING ADDICTION IN OUR WOMEN’S ALCOHOL REHAB

Alcohol addiction can carry a social stigma that’s different for women than for men. Because alcohol affects women so differently, it makes sense to seek alcoholism treatment at a women’s alcohol rehab center.

At Soledad House, our experienced therapists work with you to tackle your substance abuse problem head-on. And because they customize a treatment protocol to take your gender-specific needs into consideration, you’re more likely to maintain your sobriety long-term. We’ve created a safe and nurturing environment where women can focus on their journey to recovery away from the stresses of everyday life. Doing so allows women to overcome traumatic events and deal with any unresolved issues.
Some issues that can contribute to substance abuse problems include domestic violence, sexual abuse, or childhood traumas. Other conditions that factor into a woman’s development of an alcohol use disorder may also involve postpartum depression or anxiety disorders. Eating disorders or body image difficulties further factor into the potential for developing a substance abuse problem.
In our treatment center, we don’t just help women get sober. We promote long-term, sustainable recovery by helping women work through these underlying issues in a safe and supportive environment.

HOW WE FACILITATE HEALING

  • 12-step program attendance that helps you to combine evidence-based therapies with a spiritual component that is vital to whole-person healing
